Introducing another one of our lovely ladies from the  new 40 over 40 project!

 WHAT IS YOUR OCCUPATION? I do a little bit of supply teaching in a primary school.

HOW OLD ARE YOU – AND WHAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT BEING YOUR AGE? I will be 62 in June.
The best things about being my age are my grown children and grandchildren.

WHAT HARDSHIPS HAVE YOU ENDURED THAT YOU FEEL HAVE MADE YOU FEEL STRONGER? The death of my husband, Russell, has been the hardest thing. Surviving the early grief and then the loneliness. Having to find a new life and not knowing what that looks like but trying to move forward. Some people see that as being strong. I just think I don’t have a choice.

WHAT DO YOU CONSIDER IS YOUR GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT? My children. They have grown up to be good compassionate caring people.

WHAT IS YOUR IDEA OF PERFECT HAPPINESS? All my family gathered around the dining table, laughing and chatting.

WHAT IS YOUR MOST TREASURED POSSESSION? Apart from my family, the memories of Russell. The way he laughed at his own jokes before he got the punch line. His love and protection for his family. His unconditional love for me.

WHAT’S LEFT ON YOUR BUCKET LIST? I would like to travel and see more of the world. I’ve wanted to go to Egypt since I read about Tutenkhamun in a Ladybird book 😊

WHAT WAS YOUR GREATEST EXTRAVAGANCE? Completely re designing my house. My dad died shortly after my husband and I used the money he left me to make my home ‘mine’ and a plays I am happy to be in.

WHAT IS THE ONE THING YOU WOULD CHANGE ABOUT YOURSELF? I would like to be more self assured and have confidence in myself.

WHAT IS A TRAIT YOU ARE MOST PROUD OF? I think I’m a good friend. I keep in touch with people and I’m a good listener.

WHAT IS YOUR GREATEST FEAR? That I don’t make the most of my ‘new’ life.

WHAT DO YOU MOST VALUE IN YOUR FRIENDS? Their kindness and understanding

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE YOUR YOUNGER SELF? Go for it! Don’t let anyone tell you, you can’t.

WHAT IS YOUR MOTTO OR FAVOURITE QUOTE? It’s not the destination it’s how you get there.
