Introducing one of our lovely ladies from the  40 over 40 project!

 WHAT IS YOUR OCCUPATION? I am a full time carer for my 4 girls who each have varying forms of autism and ADHD

HOW OLD ARE YOU – AND WHAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT BEING YOUR AGE? I am 41 and the best thing about being my age is that I have had the chance and this time to spend the last few years watching my children grow into the wonderful girls that they are now.

WHAT HARDSHIPS HAVE YOU ENDURED THAT YOU FEEL HAVE MADE YOU FEEL STRONGER? About 6 months ago, I made the decision to get out of an emotionally abusive relationship where for 20+ years I was constantly put down and made to feel worthless and not attractive and that was the start of building my self confidence and self worth again.

WHAT DO YOU CONSIDER IS YOUR GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT? My children are and will always be my greatest achievement, they are my life and my world.

WHAT IS YOUR IDEA OF PERFECT HAPPINESS? To feel completely happy and content with myself, my children with me and my relationship as genuine and true as I deserve, with him loving me for who and what I am and no over the top expectations that will be used against me later down the line.

WHAT DO YOU TREASURE MOST? My family and my closest friends, especially my children.

WHAT’S LEFT ON YOUR BUCKET LIST? I have always wanted to visit Japan.

WHAT WAS YOUR GREATEST EXTRAVAGANCE? My acrylic nail kit collection is probably my most extravagant purchase as I love doing my nails and am allergic to gel products so i have purchased lots of different coloured acrylic powders so I can have whatever colour nails I choose.

WHAT IS THE ONE THING YOU WOULD CHANGE ABOUT YOURSELF? That I have very low confidence in genereal and am very much a people pleaser so I go with the flow rather than put my point across, I would love to change that to make me have a bit more of a backbone when it comes to dealing with those situations.

WHAT IS A TRAIT YOU ARE MOST PROUD OF? My ability to carry on/resilience for the sake of my children despite what I have been through and the compassion and understanding I have for others situations.

WHAT IS YOUR GREATEST FEAR? Dying and losing everything and everyone I love

WHAT DO YOU MOST VALUE IN YOUR FRIENDS? Honesty, humour that matches mine, understanding and the ability to tell me as it is when needed.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE YOUR YOUNGER SELF? Don’t hold yourself to impossible standards and don’t let your so called friends walk all over you for the sake of having ‘friends’

WHAT IS YOUR MOTTO OR FAVOURITE QUOTE? I drink and I know things, thats what I do

AND FINALLY…..HOW DID YOU FEEL AFTER YOUR 40 over 40 BOUDOIR SHOOT? I feel more confident in myself and like the way I look with make up on. I feel genuinely more happy with myself and it has made me start to understand that I can look good and feel good, and one person’s perspective doesn’t have to dictate how you are the rest of your life.
